Lighting Up Education in Remote Areas! FuCai Converts Process Waste as Teaching Material to Win the 2026 TSAA Sustainability Action Award
The "LED Science Popularization Sustainability Education Program" promoted by FuCai won the Bronze Award for "SDG 4 Quality Education - Sustainable Co-learning" at the 6th TSAA Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards in 2026. This project not only breaks the gap between children's daily lives and technology, but also demonstrates FuCai's innovative educational model that deeply integrates core optoelectronics expertise with the circular economy, elevating the industrial value of "one lamp" into the social impact of "a single lesson."
Core businesses integrate circular economy, transforming process waste into sustainable educational materials
Unlike traditional one-way corporate sponsorships, Fucai's science education program focuses on three main themes: 'Rooting Science Popularization, Sustainable Practice, and Collaborative Learning and Spreading.' The highlight is that FuCai's R&D and the Environmental Safety and Health team cleverly integrate circular economy concepts, redesigning discarded expansion rings and plastic films that should have been phased out in the process into materials for handmade lanterns and photo frames by students.
In the single year of 2025, the team transformed 194 discarded expansion rings into 97 handicrafts, directly reducing 9.7 kilograms of waste and 29 kilograms of carbon emissions, while also allowing participating students to deeply understand the true meaning of resource regeneration and energy conservation and carbon reduction through hands-on experience
Rooted in remote areas and non-mountainous regions, the data proves outstanding results
Since 2010, Fucai has focused on rural education, and in 2024 it further upgraded its public welfare initiatives into a systematic module. In 2025, FuCai partnered with the Boyou Foundation, Hsinchu Family Support Center, and Hanci Public Welfare Foundation to hold 11 sessions of campus and corporate field experiences, reaching 504 students, employees' families, and members of social welfare organizations. In the past three years, Fucai's sustainability education has visited 13 regions, holding 27 sessions and reaching 1,581 people.
According to a survey conducted by FulSight on its 2025 campaign (95% return rate), the results have been outstanding:
- 96% of students said the course helped them translate what they learned into environmental actions in their daily lives.
- 93% of students significantly increased their awareness of energy saving and environmental protection, and their willingness to participate in campus sustainability activities.
- 96% of participating employees and their families believe that the co-learning model greatly promotes positive communication within families and the establishment of sustainable values.
Corporate volunteers responded passionately, creating 3.12 times social value
The success of this project stems from Fucai's internal bottom-up corporate culture. During the project's implementation, FuCai established a comprehensive cross-departmental volunteer training mechanism, mobilizing 66 employees from 12 different departments to participate, accumulating over 720 service hours.
Based on the B4SI (Corporate Social Impact Framework) and SRO (Return on Social Investment) methodology, the project's input-output ratio reached 3.12, meaning that every NT$1 invested creates NT$3.12 in social value, generating a total social benefit of approximately NT$2.07 million. The outstanding project quality has also helped the project win the Bronze Award at the 9th Taipei Golden Condor Microfilm Festival and be selected as an outstanding case in the 'Earth Solution Sustainability Textbook.'
Ultimately, technological development must return to caring for people and the land. Through standardized teaching materials and volunteer empowerment, RichTech has created a 'replicable and disseminationable' educational model. In the future, Fortune will continue to leverage the influence of the optoelectronics industry, deepening co-learning connections among businesses, schools, and families, giving more children the opportunity to ignite the light of science and sustainability in their hearts.
